Pio Pio

I cant be expected to think of a real subject title every time, can I? I hope not. :) Pio Pio is the name of a fast food restaurant thats basically like KFC - fried chicken and mashed potatoes and all. And apparently Pio Pio is the sound a baby chicken makes. Bet you didnt know that! Also, I still think a running chicken is one of the funniest sites ever. Makes me giggle every time. :)

Sorry about the lack of apostrophes in this update, this keyboard wont let me type in grammatically correct English. It might let me type in grammatically correct Spanish, but Ill wait to test that for another day.

So. The main reason my boss changed his mind last week about the youth group conference was because we have been approved to attend the sector conference next week. This is quite exciting, as I should learn some more valuable information and I dont have to wait until November to see everyone again! And its in El Valle, so I can just make a quick 2 hour walk to get there and dont have all the hassle of transportation like everyone else. So ha! :)

My regional leader and my country director (the big cheese!) visited my site on Monday with a fellow from the Washington D.C. office. I was told of the visit on Friday morning and told to organize a meeting with the reforestation group (PROFUANCCI), other members of my community, and at least two agency counterparts. This resulted in lots of running around like crazy on Friday and Saturday, but I got it all organized fine and dandy and I think it turned out quite well. The weather even cleared in the afternoon so I was able to take them up the mountain. And it was at dusk so it wasnt too hot, it was a beautiful view, and the lighting was amazing. So it turned out to be a pretty good day. :)

Things are still moving right along in my site. Ive decided to stay with this host family for the required time until November instead of moving again because frankly, I dont want to move all my stuff again! That and I like the family, we understand each other now and theres a lot less awkward moments, its a nice house and area with an indoor bathroom, and they put up a hammock. So really, all is good. And Im not required to live with more than one family in the three months, its just a suggestion and is a nice way to ease the pressure for people who dont get lucky with their host family.

No really adventurous tromps through the woods in the last couple of weeks. I think were done with that (for now).

And, for my last note, if you liked the pictures under those links I posted last time, remember to check back because I do update them. At least the two most recent albums (the panamá flowers and photos from Cabuya Arriba). Hope all is well with everyone!
